Biweekly vs semimonthly paycheck

Biweekly (26) vs semimonthly (24) paychecks explained. See which schedule pays more per check and how to calculate gross pay.

Biweekly = 26 paychecks

You’re paid every two weeks. Two months each year include three paychecks. Annual ÷ 26 = gross per check. Try the biweekly paycheck calculator.

Semimonthly = 24 paychecks

Paid twice a month (e.g. 1st and 15th). Annual ÷ 24 = larger gross per check than biweekly for the same salary.

Which is better?

Neither changes annual gross. Semimonthly checks look bigger; biweekly helps budget weekly expenses and can align with overtime weeks.
