Is the compensation taxable in personal income tax?

Severance compensation is exempt from personal income tax up to the mandatory legal limit (with a cap of €180,000). The excess does pay taxes.

What salary is used for the calculation?

The gross daily salary, including the proration of overtime payments. That is why it is convenient to use the full annual salary divided by 365.
